Laser welding machine maintenance–welding torch part

1.Regularly inspect and replace the laser contact tip

Due to the enlarged aperture of the worn contact tip, the arc will be unstable, the appearance of the weld will deteriorate or the wire will stick (burn back); the end of the contact tip will stick to the spatter, and the wire feeding will become uneven; the contact tip will not be tightened tightly. The threaded connection will heat up and be welded dead.

2.Regularly clean and replace the wire feeding hose

After the wire feeding hose is used for a long time, a large amount of iron powder, dust, and welding wire shavings will accumulate, which will make the wire feeding unstable. So it’s important to clean it regularly, by curling it and tapping it lightly to shake off the buildup, then blowing it off with compressed air. For the grease on the hose, use a brush to wash it in the oil, and then blow it off with compressed air. If the wire feeding hose is miswired or seriously deformed and bent, replace it with a new one. When changing the tube, make sure that it is suitable for the diameter and length of the welding wire used, and that there are no burrs on the cut surface.

3.Inspection of insulating ferrules

If the insulating ferrule is removed for welding, the spatter will adhere to the inside of the nozzle and conduct the nozzle with the live part. The torch may burn out due to a short circuit. At the same time, in order to make the protective gas flow out evenly, an insulating ferrule must be installed.

4.Check Optical Components

For indoors, in addition to the working temperature being within the normal range, it is also necessary to pay attention to the working environment without electrostatic magnetic fields and other phenomena, so as to avoid the increase in the probability of errors caused by the optical path of the laser.

The vulnerable and important parts should be inspected after the equipment has been in operation for a period of time. Generally, after two weeks or one cycle of work, the components in the optical path, such as YAG rods, dielectric diaphragms, and lens protection glass, should be inspected before starting up to determine the optical quality. There is no dust and other pollution on the components. Once there is an abnormal phenomenon, it should be dealt with in time to avoid damage to the optical components when the power is turned on.
